Position: Waste Water Plant Assistant
Location: International placement onboard a cruise line
About the Opportunity:
Crew Life At Sea is currently recruiting Waste Water Plant Assistants on behalf of one of our cruise line partners. This critical role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Advanced Waste Water Treatment (AWWT) System onboard, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. If you have shipboard experience and technical knowledge of wastewater systems, this is an excellent opportunity to advance your maritime career.

Role Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the Advanced Waste Water Treatment (AWWT) System and all related components
- Perform scheduled cleaning and maintenance of filters, membranes, and tanks
- Adjust system settings to maintain operational efficiency and compliance
- Conduct maintenance and repair work on pumps, blowers, and related equipment
- Monitor key system values and respond appropriately to deviations from set points
- Ensure strict compliance with hygiene and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate operational logs and reports
- Support shipboard safety culture by following HESS protocols and reporting any violations

Who Were Looking For:
- Completed apprenticeship as Able Seaman Engine or Rating forming part of an Engineering Watch (STCW requirement)
- Minimum 1 year of experience at sea as Wiper/Oiler (preferably on cruise ships)
- Knowledge of AWWT systems, water chemistry basics, and technical troubleshooting
- Experience with pipe systems, filters, pumps, and blowers
- Ability to read and interpret technical system descriptions and drawings
- English proficiency at A2 level or higher (CEFR scale)
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills
