We’re looking for an energetic, dependable, mature au pair for a neurodivergent child and his sibling: a 10-year-old boy (ASD, dyspraxia) and a 8- year-old girl (very energetic!). The role requires a confident driver, someone patient and grounded, who can balance structured routines with gentle flexibility. The role is working predominantly from the children’s mother’s house, with a week a month (changes) at the father’s house nearby. We are seeking someone who lives within 10km of the CBD and is willing to commit to a minimum of 2 years so as to reduce disruption for the children.
Responsibilities
- Morning school runs (term time)
- Afternoon routines: pickup, snack prep, supervised homework, bath time, readiness for the next day
- Apply therapy guidance and provide feedback from school or sessions
- Encourage creative and structured play (crafts, swimming, reading, etc.)
- Light household duties: lunchbox prep, snack cleanup
- Cook/heat dinner
Requirements
- Must be a very confident driver. A car is provided for work use.
- Ideally has own transport to get to and from work, but not required if living nearby (CBD-based family).
- Responsible for daily school runs, appointments, and after-school activities including homework.
- Child-Specific Needs: No formal special needs experience is required, but understanding of ASD and dyspraxia is important. Neurodiversity Training will be provided.
- Will support therapeutic goals (e.g. speech therapy, regulating strategies), build independence, and maintain a calm, structured environment.

- Preferably a mature student who can study during breaks
- Warm, patient, resilient, and independent
- Must live within 10km of the CBD and be willing to commit to two-years
Working Hours During Term Time:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
- 07:00-08:00 (school drop-off)
- 2:30pm – 7:00pm (school pickups, therapies, afternoon care). Includes time to collect employer’s au pair car 45mins before son’s school pick up time.
- 6 hours per day
Thursday
- 2:00pm – 8:45pm
- 7 hours
Friday
- 7:00am – 8:00am (school drop-off)
- 12:45pm – 6pm (school pickups, extra mural, afternoon care). Includes time to collect employer’s au pair car 45-50 mins before school pick up time.
- Approx. 6 hours per day
During School Holidays:
- Monday to Friday
- 9:00am – 5:00pm (times subject to change with mutual agreement)
- 8 hours per day
- Some weekend babysitting is optional.
Benefits:
Training will be provided by the Neurodiversity Centre.
Salary:
With the morning school drop off - R15 000 per month
Without the morning school drop off - R13 000 per month
