The General Manager of The Onyx Hotel is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the property. Minimum Requirements
- Strong general management experience within luxury/lifestyle hospitality.
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen with proven results in driving profitability.

- High standards of operational knowledge across all hotel departments.

- Proficiency in Opera and hospitality systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Management
- Oversee the financial health of The Onyx Hotel, including revenues, cost controls, and cash flow.
- Work with the Finance Manager and HODs to ensure accurate reporting, forecasting, and disciplined financial management.
- Monitor stock usage and implement cost control measures to maintain profitability.
- Collaborate with Newmark’s Revenue, Sales, and Marketing teams to optimise room rates, occupancy, and market share.
- Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Continuously review operating costs and identify efficiencies.
Brand & Guest Experience
- Serve as the ambassador of The Onyx Hotel brand, ensuring the guest experience reflects Newmark’s values and standards.
- Uphold and promote the property’s reputation for excellence through consistent service delivery.
- Inspire and motivate the team to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
- Proactively monitor guest feedback and implement improvements.
- Champion innovation and adapt to evolving guest needs.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with property ownership, Newmark leadership, and key external stakeholders.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on commercial and operational performance to Newmark.
- Balance the interests of owners, employees, and brand objectives.
Day-to-Day Operations
- Lead daily, weekly, and monthly operations meetings to ensure alignment across departments.
- Conduct regular property walks to maintain quality, aesthetics, and functionality.
- Monitor departmental performance and support HODs in achieving operational goals.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, service standards, and quality audits.
Talent Management
- Recruit, onboard, and develop a motivated, skilled team aligned with the property and brand culture.
- Foster a learning culture by providing regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Drive retention and succession planning strategies in collaboration with HR.
- Enforce fair and consistent performance management practices.
Health, Safety & Sustainability
- Oversee implementation of health, safety, and environmental standards across the property.
- Ensure all certifications and compliance requirements are up to date.
- Drive sustainability initiatives and waste management programs to align with Newmark’s environmental standards.
