Inventory Manager
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Manager to oversee the inventory operations of our chemical raw material distribution company. This role is critical to ensure accurate stock levels, safe storage practices, regulatory compliance, and smooth coordination with procurement, sales, and logistics teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory control, chemical handling, and ERP systems. This position reports into the Supply Chain engineer and manages a team consisting of the Logistics Warehouse co-ordinator and the Logistics Assistant.

- Monthly stock meetings in both South Africa and Kenya
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory records of all chemical raw materials across multiple warehouse locations.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations; execute regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
- Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and align inventory with customer needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and chemical handling regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, GHS).
- Oversee receiving, labelling, storage, and issuing of chemical materials in accordance with MSDS/SDS requirements.
- Implement and enforce proper storage practices based on chemical compatibility and hazard classifications.
- Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to track real-time inventory movements and generate reports.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and develop corrective action plans.
- Lead, train, and manage all staff involved in inventory operations.
- Coordinate with transportation and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and optimize warehouse space.
- Contract Management. Manage and co-ordinate multiple third party service providers.
- Backup to Supply Chain engineer.
- Assist with SLA / SOP 3rd party billing and performance reviews.
- Manage month end recons including 3rd party billing.
- Honours degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in inventory management, preferably in the chemical raw material 3rd party warehousing and distribution industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SALESFORCE)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
10 – 15 years demonstrable experience in 3rd party storage and distribution of chemical raw materials.
