The Role: As our Shop Fit and Production Manager, you'll lead our entire production division, transforming creative concepts into reality. You'll oversee our comprehensive in-house facility including woodwork, steelwork, paint specialists, electrical assembly, and ensure our reputation for excellence continues to grow.
Key responsibilities:
Project leadership and management
Receive creative briefs and translate them into actionable production plans with accurate timelines
Lead production briefing meetings with CAD team, ensuring technical specifications are understood
Manage multiple concurrent projects from concept through to completion
Provide cost estimates and production timelines, ensuring projects remain profitable
Coordinate with account directors (Shene & Lesego) and creative team (Vanessa) throughout production
Team management and development
Lead and motivate our production team including carpenters (Elias, Germany, Ramion), steel workers (Julius, Robert), painters (Victor, Mthandazo), and electrical assembly (Eddy)
Maintain our 'we're in this together' culture while driving excellence
Conduct training and skills development programs
Ensure high morale and productivity across all production departments
Quality control and standards
Oversee quality control at every production stage - our excellence is non-negotiable
Conduct final walkthroughs with Justin (CEO) and account managers before sign-off
Ensure all work meets our high standards and client brand requirements
Manage test prints, prototypes, and material samples
Operations and logistics
Coordinate with Sidwell (National Operations Executive) for seamless handover to activations
Manage material procurement based on approved BOMs
Oversee inventory control and warehouse organization with Andries
Ensure proper documentation using our systems (CHASE, SDCSDC)
External vendor management
Manage relationships with approved suppliers when outsourcing is required
Ensure external work meets a PB quality standards
Negotiate pricing and manage budgets
Systems and process improvement
Utilize CHASE for project tracking and approvals
Drive continuous improvement in production processes
Participate in post-project reviews to capture learnings
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:Essential:
Minimum 5 years' experience in production/manufacturing management
Proven track record managing workshop operations
Strong experience across multiple production disciplines (woodwork, metalwork, painting, assembly)
Excellent project management skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in excel and project management tools
Outstanding communication skills - able to interface with creative teams, clients, and workshop staff
Strong leadership abilities with experience managing diverse teams
Advantageous:
Experience in experiential marketing or retail fabrication
Knowledge of CAD software and technical drawings
Understanding of electrical installations
Budget management experience
