Position Overview:
Done by Native is in search of an experienced Social Media Monitoring & Analysis Specialist to deliver daily and monthly reports on South African social media sentiment and engagement trends for an English-speaking audience.Daily responsibilities will include monitoring a wide variety of social media platforms in English and major South African languages (Afrikaans, isiZulu, and Sotho), selecting and curating relevant content, analyzing sentiment, and summarizing findings in English.**Please note this position is not yet funded. Key Responsibilities:
- Social Media Monitoring: Track, monitor, and analyze user engagement across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, and other relevant platforms.
- Sentiment & Trend Analysis: Identify audience sentiment toward the United States, the U.S. Mission, and related U.S. programs; detect emerging trends, influencers, and key topics.
- Multilingual Coverage: Monitor and analyze posts in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, and Sotho, with accurate comprehension and translation into English summaries.
- Competitor Benchmarking: Compare performance with content from other diplomatic missions and organizations in South Africa, including both allied and competing entities.
- Content Evaluation: Assess reach, engagement, click-through rates, and top-performing content; recommend strategies for growth.
- Disinformation Tracking: Identify accounts spreading false or misleading narratives about the United States.
- Reporting: Deliver concise, accurate daily summaries and more detailed monthly analytics reports based on quantitative and qualitative data.
- Tool Use & Collaboration: Operate and help maintain an online monitoring platform; collaborate with the project team to meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, social media analysis, international affairs, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in social media monitoring, sentiment analysis, or digital media analytics; experience with both organic and paid content analysis.
- Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English and at least one major South African language (Afrikaans, isiZulu, or Sotho). Strong English writing and summarization skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex data sets, identify patterns, and present clear recommendations.
- Platform Expertise: Proficiency in using social media monitoring tools and analytics dashboards.
- Familiarity with South African Media: Knowledge of local digital landscapes, leading influencers, and prominent news and social media accounts.
- Deadline-Oriented: Capable of delivering accurate, objective work under tight deadlines.
- Independence: Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision.
