System Support Analyst

Introduction

This position will be based at the Head Office in Woodmead.

Description
This role will be responsible to carry out the SQL Software Developer functions and provide Solution & Database Support

Duties & Responsibilities:

Solution Support

• Contribute to the training of end-users.
• Contribute to the development of operational reports.
• Interpret, write, and communicate applicable sections of User Requirement Specifications (URS).
• Intermediate knowledge of information systems programming and system analysis
• Trouble Shooting, fault-finding and analysis on systems
• System Configuration and user management
• Data collection, extraction and representation skills
• Able to implement minor changes in software solutions
• Installation and maintenance of software packages

Information System Design & Development Skills:

• Sound knowledge of T-SQL for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or later
• Sound knowledge of entity relationship modelling of database design
• Sound knowledge of optimal database design for query performance, robustness, maintainability
• Sound knowledge of enterprise data flows among relational databases, as well as between spreadsheet applications and relational databases
• Knowledge of enterprise systems

o ERP systems such as Sage
o Laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
o Computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Onkey

• Assist Users to extract data from database and be able in writing basic to intermediate SQL Queries
• Be able to assist with writing of User Requirement Specifications
• Understanding of the mining industry and Processing
• Knowledge in Microsoft software development and scripting; tools such as SQL, C#, JavaScript, VUE and ASP will be advantageous

Communication:

• Provide expertise, analysis, and advice to team members as needed
• Create technical documentation of a high standard, and presentable
• Communicate effectively with management, team members and customers

Beneficial:

Qualification Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED qualifications such as the N3 Certificate.
• University Degree or Diploma in Computer Science: Information Systems / Engineering

Experience and Skills Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in database development and relational database design and development, preferably within the mining industry or related engineering industries
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Software development and Support Utilising Microsoft Technologies
• Experience in business intelligence/operational intelligence report development will be advantageous
• Planning, scheduling and organising skills
• Analytical with attention to detail
• Demonstrate sound skills in:

o Planning
o Design
o Implementation
o Time management.
o Risks identification
