Overberg Water is a Water Board established in terms of section 28 of Water Services Act, (No 108 of 1997) and is classified as Government Business Enterprise as per Schedule 3B of the Public Finance Management Act (No. 1 of 1999) as amended
DUTIES:
- Assist the Process Controller in daily plant operations
- Clean and maintain plant equipment, pump stations, and work areas
- Load and offload chemicals and materials as required
- Assist in draining and cleaning sedimentation tanks
- Perform basic manual tasks such as digging, lifting, and moving materials
- Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or leaks
- Assist in taking water samples under supervision
- Ensure proper disposal of waste and sludge in compliance with regulations
- Follow safety protocols and always wear appropriate PPE
- Assist in the calibration and basic maintenance of instruments
- Support in the monitoring of reservoirs and pump stations
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratory and dosing areas
- Perform standby duties and respond to callouts when required
- Report any hazards or unsafe conditions to the supervisor
- Assist with record-keeping and basic documentation as needed

REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 10 or equivalent
- Basic understanding of water treatment processes (Classification advantageous)
- Ability to perform manual labor and work in physically demanding conditions
- Willingness to work shifts, standby, weekends, and public holidays
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures in an industrial environment
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- No criminal record (may be required for site access)
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role (preferably in water treatment or related field)
