Job Advert Summary
The overall responsibility of the successful candidate will be to perform basic Laboratory analyses and sample preparation for the Inorganic Laboratory within the Chemistry Section.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum :NQF6: ND Analytical Chemistry
- Desired: NQF 7 Higher Diploma
- Candidate Natural Scientist registration.
- One year of working experience in Analytical Chemistry laboratory.
- Working Knowledge of ISO 17025 accreditation system.
- Working knowledge of the following analytical instruments, discrete analysers, auto titrators and ICP’s.
Primary Duties
- Performing routine and non-routine analytical analysis on Discrete analysers, Autotitrators, Photometric and Ion Chromatography.
- The documentation and checking of results on the identified databases.
- Performance of, and documentation of, all quality control checks of identified analytical tests.
- Checking, Identification, documentation, and reporting of non-conforming results.
- Undertaking and documentation of maintenance of equipment and instrumentation and ensure that they are correctly maintained
- Preparation of chemicals, reagents and samples received, for the area of work.
- The adherence to SHERQ practices and good housekeeping principles in the area of work
Knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO 17025.
- Performed analytical testing in laboratory.
- Understanding analytical analysis using different analytical instruments like ICPOES, Autotitrators, Photometric and discrete analysers.
- Understanding of quality and SHERQ procedures. Ability to follow procedures in a routine laboratory

- Ability to perform the basic functions on the Information Management System (LIMS).
