POST TITLE: COMMUNICATION OFFICER

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing a comprehensive marketing plan in collaboration with the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer.
- Align all activities/events with the marketing plan and the vision and mission of the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology in collaboration with the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer.
- Project Management of a biannual Facultyevent; EBIT Week.
- Coordinating and execute the Open Day, Orientation week, and Welcoming Day activities, together with the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer.
- Manage the recruitment portfolio of all undergraduate faculty programmes.
- Manage the Departmental marketing collateral in collaboration with the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer.
- Faculty Webmaster.
- Faculty Photographer.
- Event management in collaboration with the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer.
- Manage the financial activities of theEBIT Marketing division.
- Corporate identity.
- Manage the general marketing collateral of the Faculty in collaboration with the Chief Marketing and Communication officer.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification:
- Relevant Bachelor/BTech Degree or
- National Diploma
Experience:
As a Communication Practitioner with proven experience in a large or medium organisation with regard to the following: (3 years)
- Events management;
- Internal and external communication;
- Applied knowledge and skills of writing articles;
- MS Word and Excel.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
Knowledge
- Operational systems and procedures;
- Budget administration;
- Organisational knowledge;
- Knowledge of programmes offered.
Technical Competencies
- Customer experience;
- Branding and image management;
- Marketing technology: workflow automation, integrated CRM, social media monitoring;
- Engagement: understanding return on marketing investment;
- Report writing.
Behavioural Competencies
- Taking initiative and excellent communication skills;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Manages stress levels;
- Understands interpersonal and cultural differences;
- Capable of multitasking;
- Conflict management with positive outcomes.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
3 to 5 years Experience in a Higher Education environment;
- Internal and external public relations;
- Organisational communication;
- Experience in journalism.
PLEASE NOTE:

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
