Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) Specialist
Job Purpose:
To provide expert advisory and implementation support for Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) initiatives in alignment with Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) strategies. This consultant-level role, activated on an as-needed basis, is ideal for professionals with proven experience in delivering measurable impact in supplier development, localisation, and enterprise growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and monitor ESD programmes in alignment with B-BBEE codes and organizational transformation objectives.
- Provide guidance on supplier development strategies, including identification, onboarding, and support of qualifying small enterprises (QSEs) and exempted micro enterprises (EMEs).
- Support the integration of local SMMEs into supply chains, ensuring sustainable development and procurement inclusion.
- Develop tools, templates, and frameworks for effective ESD planning, reporting, and compliance.
- Conduct assessments of suppliers and enterprises to determine development needs and readiness for participation in value chains.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance with B-BBEE and supply chain policies.
- Compile and present regular progress reports, impact evaluations, and improvement plans related to ESD initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- NQF Level 7 qualification in Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum Experience and Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design, execution, and monitoring of B-BBEE and Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programmes.
- In-depth knowledge of B-BBEE legislation and Codes of Good Practice, especially the Enterprise and Supplier Development element.
- Proven experience in working with or supporting SMMEs, particularly in the public or development sector.
- Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with public procurement processes and transformation-related compliance requirements.
