We are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Buyer with a keen eye for value, interest and awareness of trends coupled with a passion and an eye for quality products at competitive rates.
The successful candidate must preferably have 2 years of relevant or comparable working experience and must reside in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES
- Identify new brand opportunities, in line with the business and divisional strategies and initiate introduction meeting with brands
- Product range and line development and determination, Identify business opportunities for the organisation
- Source, evaluate and propose potential suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and pricing requirements
- Supplier Relationship Management
- Use understanding of customer needs to identify the right products
- Staying abreast of specials in the market/ awareness of price movements to maintain product pricing competitiveness
- Balance product assortment and visual on-shelf display to meet the customers’ needs
- Inventory management, pro-actively manage stock shortages
- Maintenance of effective administration (complete and up to date)
- Initiate and motivate promotions and cross departmental collaboration
- Proactive approach to maintaining optimal stock levels
- Produce new and creative ideas, approaches and/ or insights
· Produces a range of solutions to challenges / problems
· Building rapport and establish good relationships with customers and staff
· Relate well to people at all levels within and external of the organisation
· Ability to make effective decisions under difficult circumstances, take ownership and displaying initiative and champion own ideas
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
· Grade 12 certificate with maths is an essential requirement
- Preferably 2 years of experience together with experience in a retail environment
- Previous experience and exposure to procurement and/or logistics practices will be advantageous
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), good IT skills
- High degree of administrative and numerical proficiency
- Active consumer, find joy in online and physical shopping
- Social media and trend awareness, basic understanding of shopper patterns / behaviour
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated individual that are goal-oriented
