Job Summary
Lead the execution of Equity Investment finance strategy and finance team through supporting the CFO, CPF & Equity Investments in the development and implementation of the Equity Investment financial management operating model and provide support to Business in decision making. Additionally, the role includes overseeing the Valuation Control function; with the mandate of ensuring accurate and fair valuations of equity instruments in line with IFRS and applicable valuation standards
Job Description
Accountability: Financial management and Business Partnering
- Partner with and support front office stakeholders while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- Design and management of the operational and financial control environment to ensure sound financial and accounting processes.
- Improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes and controls in line with applicable best practice and standards.
- Manage the external audit processes of portfolio legal entities, resolution of audit related issues, adherence to Group audit timelines and maintain professional relations with External Auditors throughout the audit engagements.
- Managing the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS and ensuring adherence to timelines.
- Performing month end procedures including, review and approval of journals, review of balance sheet substantiation and tax computations.
- Overseeing and facilitating financial planning and forecast processes (STP, MTP, RAF). Variance analysis between budget/project approvals and actual performance.
- Overseeing the independent valuation control function including performing financial modelling and investment valuations and review of team’s valuation assessments.
- Manage secretarial function for the Valuation Control Committee.
- Review and challenge deal models prepared by the front office to ensure reasonableness of returns and alignment with risk expectations.
- Facilitate Technical Risk Review Committee (TRRC) meetings to ensure that proposed deals receive the necessary technical review before being submitted to the CIB Investment Committee (CIB IC).
- Review and oversee the signing of CIB IC committee minutes.
- Facilitate the disbursement of CPF equity payments with CPF Operations once deals have been approved.
Accountability: Business Planning
- Partner with front office and line managers to complete sound annual financial plans within the agreed timeframes.
- Review the 3-year forecast for Medium Term Plans (MTP's) for the area of accountability in accordance with BU strategy annually.
- Review the 3-year forecast for Short Term Plans (STP's) for the area of accountability in accordance with BU strategy annually.
- Review the 3-year forecast for Revised Annual Forecast (RAF) for the area of accountability in accordance with BU strategy annually.
Accountability: Governance and controls
- Apply the highest standards of controls and risk management practices, and Pro-actively identify ways to improve the control environment.
- Implement required governance processes to support improved financial management practices within own area of responsibility.
- Review the reconciliations submitted in terms of the GL Framework on a monthly basis.
Education and Experience Required
- CA (SA) (Required)
- Minimum 3 years financial management experience

Postgraduate Degrees and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
