Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
Develop cost models and pricing schedules for tenders, budget estimates, and design-and-construct proposals.
Coordinate with design, procurement, project management, and site teams to gather data and ensure alignment on construction methodologies.
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes , ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and risk management.
Prepare and present comprehensive tender submissions , including risk assessments, methodologies, and cost breakdowns.
Mentor junior estimators and engineers , reviewing their work and supporting technical development.
Liaise with clients and consultants to clarify scope, negotiate terms, and support bid presentations or value engineering exercises.
Maintain and update unit rate databases, productivity benchmarks, and cost histories for continuous improvement.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering , Construction Management , or a related field.
15–20+ years of experience in civil estimating, specifically on roadworks and earthworks projects (public infrastructure, mining, transport, etc.).
Proven record of delivering competitive tenders on multimillion-dollar projects.
In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies , local market pricing, and civil specifications.
Strong skills in estimation software (e.g., Candy, Expert Estimation, CostX, or similar).
Proficient in Microsoft Excel , Project , and standard engineering software tools.
High-level written and verbal communication skills for internal reporting and external client engagement.
Deep understanding of risk, contingency, and escalation modeling in estimates.
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience mentoring or leading estimation teams.
