The Senior Scheduler is responsible for leading the development, management, and analysis of project schedules to ensure timely and successful project delivery. This senior-level role works closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop detailed schedules, monitor progress, and provide expert guidance on time-related aspects of project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Lead scheduling activities including baseline development, critical path analysis, and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate with project teams to define sequencing, dependencies, durations, and resource allocations.
- Prepare and present schedule reports, progress updates, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyze schedule trends and variances, and recommend recovery actions or mitigations when necessary.
- Support change management processes by evaluating time impacts and updating schedule baselines accordingly.
- Integrate subcontractor and vendor schedules into the master schedule to ensure alignment across all project elements.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, organizational, and client-specific scheduling standards and procedures.
- Mentor and guide junior schedulers and planners in best practices and tool usage.
- Participate in audits, schedule risk assessments, and project reviews to ensure schedule accuracy and reliability.
Requirements
National Diploma / Advanced Certificate in Built Environment / Engineering (NQF 6)
OR
National Senior Certificate / NC(V) Level 4 (NQF 4) plus meeting management scheduling proficiency requirements
8+ years in scheduling
OR
5 years’ work management scheduling at Nuclear Power Plant or similar
Other Requirements
Primavera P6 at basic level, MS Office at basic level and Practitioner level application in SAP (SAP PM2, SAP PPM, SAP PS)
