- Supervising and managing site workers assigned to a specific project.
- Coordinating all activities related to construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures
- Interpreting and working from blueprints and written specifications to direct work sequences
- Delegating responsibilities among crew members and resolving day-to-day site issues
- Ensuring that project tasks are performed within specified tolerances and quality standards
- Monitoring attendance, work progress, and adherence to safety rules and regulations
- Holding site meetings, reporting progress to supervisors or project managers, and maintaining clear communication among all stakeholders
- A high school diploma or equivalent; however, some employers may require post-secondary education in construction management, civil engineering, or related fields.
- Significant experience in construction, often requiring at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of building codes and legal regulations surrounding the construction industry.
- Proficiency in handling, operating, and maintaining construction equipment and tools.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA safety training certification, which promotes understanding of federal health and safety regulations.
- Additional certifications in project management, like PMP or CAPM, can be advantageous
- Driver's licence
