Our bakery plant based in Durban is seeking a head baker to join their team. As the head baker, your key responsibility will be to maintain a bakery team that will produce high-quality products.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Managing the bakery's production schedules.
· Oversee and manage the staff.
· Creating new recipes for new products and driving innovation with a keen initiative to try something new
· Maintain high levels of hygiene and food safety.
· Maintain a safe and organised bakery environment.
· Train staff and monitor their production performance
· Manage inventory and supplies.
Skills and competencies
· Excellent baking and pastry making skills, including the ability to develop and innovate steps
· Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and training staff
· Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
· Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage production schedules and inventory effectively
· Knowledge of food safety and HACCP
· Familiar with industry trends and product developments
Qualifications and Experience
· 3-5 years proven experience in a bakery or similar food production environment.
· Pastry qualification (advantageous)
