We are currently looking for a Demand Planner. The main purpose of the Planner position is to co-ordinate and find a balance between meeting demand and supply requirements whilst scheduling in a way to maximize production outputs as far as possible without negatively affecting customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Daily planning of production facility according to capacity and customer requirements in accordance with materials, labour and equipment availability.
- Update schedule to sales for status of jobs and delivery dates.
- Coordinating production workflow to optimize manufacturing capacity.
- Planning and prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance.
- Monitor job progress to ensure OTIF KPI’s are met.
- Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.
- Obtain daily output information (number of finished products, percentage of plan achieved, OTIF, etc.)
- Prepare and submit daily production planning reports.
- Prepare and submit monthly production planning department report.
- Continuous Improvement (CI) of planning procedures and systems to enhance operational efficiencies.
- Promptly addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production.
- Effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met. (OTIF).
- Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
- Communicate and negotiate with the sales if delays occurred.
- Manage planning department personnel and KPIs.
Minimum Educational /Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 -5 years proven experience as a production planner in the manufacturing industry.
- Very good knowledge of production planning and manufacturing capacity concepts.
- Minimum grade 12 Senior certificate.
- Further education or certification is advantageous.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High levels of accuracy.
- Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS office or equivalent software.
- Formal production planning software training or software knowledge advantageous.
