Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory role in the food and beverage industry
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of culinary techniques, flavours, and food safety standards
- Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and other relevant technology (Micros & Opera)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a dining setting
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
- Commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences and supporting overall business objectives
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the organizing of schedules for all restaurant management team
members - Assist with marketing ideas, advertising material requirement, posts or design.
- Collaborate in planning for events, conferences, dinners and special occasions.
- Collaborate with the Cost controller on Beverage costings and pricing, frequently checking that all menu items are priced according to set COS target.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of food and beverage activities.
- Support the management and development of the restaurant team both front and back of house (in collaboration with the head chef).
- Contribute to menu planning, food preparation, and presentation to maintain quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers, assist in negotiating prices, and manage procurement of ingredients and supplies for the bar.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels, minimizing waste, and optimizing stock control
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and sanitary dining environment
- Participate in analysing sales and customer feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Support the development and execution of marketing initiatives to promote food and beverage offerings
- Assist in administrative tasks, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, conference & events quoting, debtors (payments follow ups)
- Stay informed about industry trends, and what is happening in and around Johannesburg / Sandton.
