Minimum Requirements:
- An Honours degree or equivalent qualification
- At least three years project management experience, preferably in the higher education sector as well as two years grant management experience
- Research experience is a recommendation
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of the research process and an ability to relate to and interact with post-graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and researchers
- Familiarity with standard good management practices concerning financial accountability, governance, HR management, knowledge and information management, office accommodation and facilities and communication
- Knowledge of specific Wits policies, procedures and financial regulations and routines will be an advantage
- An understanding of the reporting requirements of all relevant types of funders universities, government, NGOs, and donors
- Proficient in collecting, processing, and interpreting data to identify trends and extract actionable insights. Experienced in organizing complex datasets and creating clear, compelling visualizations to support data-driven decision-making
- Excellent interpersonal skills and good communication skills
- High-level computer literacy skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Duties amongst others include:
- Pre-award activities: Seek out suitable external research funding opportunities, and advertise various calls, with the assistance of the Communications & Events Officer
- Post-award activities: Facilitate contract arrangements by liaising with Legal Services
- Reporting: Gather and analyse data from multiple sources
- Participate in and contribute to the affairs of CoE-MaSS
