The Senior Manager – People, Culture & Digital Enablement is responsible for building a future-fit people ecosystem that supports Software Solutions in scaling as a high-performing, agile software engineering business.
The role leads the integration of workforce planning, agile-aligned onboarding, digital provisioning, and cultural engagement across a hybrid workforce of full-time employees, interns, and consultants. It ensures squad readiness, Belt progression, and operational efficiency through responsive, data-led practices.
As a strategic partner to Chapter Leads and Engineering Managers, this role embeds talent practices that are agile by design, culture-driven, and fully digital. It governs compliance, identity and access protocols, and workforce analytics in partnership with Group HR and Legal. By aligning MTN’s strategic ambition with the needs of a digitally native workforce, the incumbent enables Software Solutions to deliver at scale while sustaining high levels of engagement, inclusion, and innovation.
Strategic Workforce Planning & Organisational DesignLead the design and delivery of workforce strategies aligned to agile Pod/Squad configurations. Forecast talent needs, manage Belt progression frameworks, and ensure optimal resourcing across full-time, intern, and consultant populations. Digital Enablement Operations
Govern end-to-end provisioning of laptops, software tools, licenses, and access for all workforce types. Drive automation in digital onboarding, asset lifecycle management, and HRIS integrations that ensure squad readiness within 5 Business Days of appointment. Agile Talent Lifecycle Management
Embed sprint-based onboarding, performance check-ins, and feedback loops into squad routines. Partner with Chapter Leads to align team health reviews with agile delivery goals and ensure just-in-time recruitment for scaling pods. Culture & Experience Design
Activate Kente’s people-led values through engaging rituals such as Feedback Fridays, Innovation Showcases, and Squad Celebrations. Implement culture dashboards, recognition systems, and initiatives that elevate employee NPS and belonging. Capability Building & Learning Integration
Develop Belt-aligned development pathways using internal mentoring, pair programming, and vendor-led technical training. Oversee leadership uplift programmes and learning strategies to increase internal mobility and skills relevance. Workforce Analytics & Reporting
Build real-time dashboards to monitor squad velocity, engagement, Belt progression, and attrition risk. Provide analytics-based insights to the Software Solutions Lead and Product Heads for decision-making. Governance, Compliance & Risk Mitigation
Ensure full compliance with POPIA, GDPR, BCEA, and MTN policies for all workforce types. Partner with Legal and Group HR to manage ER risk, audit cycles, and vendor HR governance (especially Accenture and tech consultancy partners). Agile Performance & Reward Innovation
Design transparent OKR-based feedback systems, recognition frameworks, and Belt promotion processes. Guide squads and chapter leads on reward nominations tied to delivery impact, peer inputs, and innovation. Stakeholder Partnership & Change Leadership
Serve as the lead HR partner for Engineering, Product, and Group Shared Services. Act as the change agent for new ways of working, including transformation initiatives, strategic restructures, and post-launch scaling.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Psychology, or Industrial Engineering
- Preferred: Postgraduate diploma or Master’s in Digital HR, People Analytics, or Organisational Psychology
- Certifications: Agile HR Certified Professional, SHRM-SCP or CIPD Level 7 preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years in HR or People Operations
- At least 3-4 years in agile/technology-enabled environments (e.g. software engineering, fintech, product-based start-ups)
- Demonstrated experience in building hybrid HR models for contractors, interns, and full-time staff
- Experience in leading digital tool integration (HRIS, MDM, ITSM) and people analytics platforms
Skills :
- Proficiency in project management and process improvement methodologies
- Proficiency in data analysis, budgeting and forecasting techniques
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, quality assurance and incident management
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical and financial data
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. : Oracle, SAP)
